Max Brand Potato Chips, Straight and Nautiloid Squid vs. Sea Scorpions

We slept on the plane to Taiwan, and got to Taipei around 5am local time. Most places in the airport were shut except for this place that sold potato chips. We found one that had Max's name on it.

And then Max found a Taiwanese Dollar on the floor (value 32c in US currency).

China Airlines from Taipei to Sydney seemed a long way. It was a 9 hour flight. I had ordered "childrens' meals" for the kids. This burger initially looked promising, but then we realised that it had rice instead of bread, and inside was filled with some kind of squid meat instead of burger.

We watched a documentary about the last days of the dinosaurs, which had a lot of information about battles between giant Sea Scorpions and two varieties of giant squid - straight and nautiloid. The following day the entire documentary was re-enacted in playdough.

The kids were so patient and well behaved even under the influence of Darrel Lea Lollypops.

Here is George and his lollypop.

Cousin Holly had been at the Becker grandparents' all week having some special time with Nanny and Gramps, and she got a ride home with us.

Her sister Piama came to pick her up when we got home.

Aunty Shani is 6 months pregnant

Uncle Kim thinks this baby might be a dude.

It has been hot here. On our first full day here it was 40C. We went swimming at the river. On our second day here it was 30C. We swam at the river again.

Max is asking lots of appropriate questions about how to avoid poisonous snakes and spiders. He was able to catch this grasshopper near the river. He calls it an "alien grasshopper" because it looks unlike any grasshopper he has ever seen in Canada.
