Braving a bull and an electric fence, we snuck into a nearby paddock where we had heard lots of croaking frogs in a swamp.
Our small fishtank, once home to the blue tongue lizard, had to be washed out for the tadpoles.
Apparently their growth slows in colder weather. It has been a bit cool lately. We have been tadpole owners for about 2 weeks and there has been no discernible change in their size.
On April Fool's day Max's school lunch had some surprises.
George talking to Max and his friends over the fence of our backyard. The big kids were on their lunch break.
A shark was sighted at the Bairnsdale Aquatic and Recreation Centre pool.
One day Max was home sick. He spent the day on the couch with a cold. The guinea pigs visited him to cheer him up. He fed them some capsicum (red pepper).
Guinea pigs chew with their mouths open.
One day I was late picking George up from Kindergarten. He was helping with the cleaning up using a fully functioning mini vacuum cleaner.
We visited the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne.
Lying on the floor, we looked up at an enormous 1960s stained glass piece in the roof of the gallery.
The Leonard French stained glass ceiling is over 50m long and over 14m wide. Due to the weight of the glass, the ceiling could not be built flat, and was therefore made of triangular sections projecting downward. The ceiling is made of 224 triangular pieces of glass in 50 colours and took five years to construct.
We took in work by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Marco Palmezzano, Rembrandt, Peter Paul Rubens, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, Tintoretto, Paolo Uccello, and Paolo Veronese, amongst others. Many of the paintings had a religious theme which was educational. In one of them we could even see Jesus's feet disappearing into the clouds as he was assumed into heaven.
After a while, George was no longer very interested.
Max recently brought home his certificate for "Student of the Week". The teacher said that Max had displayed courage and constant efforts at self improvement ever since arriving at the school as a newcomer last year.
