We moved on the 10th of December.
Shortly afterwards we found a wild turtle on the road and brought him home. We named him Squirt.
Max jumping the fence to go to school. George and I brought Squirt in one day for show and tell.
Max's school, Lindenow Primary School, has been ranked 5th in the State by various criteria.
We made our turtle a pond in the garden, and put an old guinea pig cage over the top to keep him contained. But the Eastern Longnecked Turtle is a strong digger. Squirt released himself back into the wild after just a few days. Here is where he dug out and squeezed under.
The Edwards family had their Christmas dinner in Pakenham. Max sat next to Jo, who teaches at his school.
We dug a hole for the sandpit (sandbox) and a dump truck delivered sand to fill it up.
Santa Claus did a drive by past our house a few days before Christmas, handing out lollies (candy).
On Christmas Eve we put some reindeer food on the lawn (glitter and oatmeal put together by George's preschool) and went to sleep.
George could not quite believe that Santa had REALLY been inside our house during the night. Max explained to George that Santa Claus is magic, he can make reindeer fly, and he can go all over the whole world in one night.
It was quite hot on Christmas Day. We made a feast of half the ham that Royce won in a raffle, with candied yams and scalloped potatoes. The other half of the ham fed 10 people a few weeks later at the Becker family Christmas dinner.
The new swimming pool has gotten a lot of use. And at times, abuse.
Spending time with friends over the holidays.
This is what they were looking at: dead flies in a fly trap.
George and his dear friend "Lizabella".
At the beach, finding Soldier Crabs. Which we brought home with us.
We held some baby chicks and ducklings at the farm we visit sometimes. One little chick was one hour old and its feathers were still wet.
Next blog will include the pictures of the Becker family Christmas, which was held a little bit late on Jan 6th. For now, here is Aunty Shani with cousin Saskia.
